Will led become another field of "made in China"?

Edit£º   Click£º125   Date£º2022-03-16
The low-carbon development model has risen to the height of "national policy". Sustainable low-carbon and green economy has become the trend of the world, which undoubtedly brings unprecedented opportunities for energy-saving and environmental protection industries such as LED lighting. The 2010 International Forum on low carbon development and led Summit Forum were held in Shenzhen. Some experts predicted that the domestic LED output value will exceed 100 billion this year, double that of 2008. The market is very attractive.
However, there are many bottlenecks in the development of patent industry and technology. Chips and other upstream industries, which account for 70% of industrial profits, are almost monopolized by foreign giants. Is led just another field of OEM "made in China"?
Policies to promote the LED industry bigger
At present, not only foreign enterprises, but also almost all domestic lighting enterprises have begun to set foot in the LED industry. At the same time, driven by energy conservation and emission reduction policies, the "cake" of LED industry is rapidly being expanded. At the end of 2008, the Ministry of science and technology and the Ministry of Finance jointly implemented a pilot project of "10000 lamps in ten cities". It is planned to promote more than 300000 led municipal lighting lamps in 10-20 cities by the end of this year. In addition, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, this year's World Expo, the Asian Games and next year's Universiade have brought tens of billions of business opportunities to the LED industry.
Bi bailing, CEO of Philips China, once revealed that "the civil lighting alone in China's LED market is worth 40 billion yuan." Sui Shirong, vice president of Shenzhen LED Industry Federation, also said, "this year, the total value of domestic LED industry will exceed 100 billion. As the leader of domestic LED industry development, Shenzhen's output value reached 24.5 billion yuan last year, accounting for one third of the country."
Shenzhen's LED industry is beginning to take shape
Shenzhen is the leader in the LED industry. It is understood that the industrial scale of Shenzhen in 2007 was about 15 billion yuan, with more than 120000 employees. At present, Shenzhen has become the main production and supply base of LED lamps and LED backlight in the world. Sui Shirong pointed out, "Shenzhen has formed a relatively complete industrial chain, and a certain industrial scale has emerged." In addition, in April 2005, the Ministry of science and technology officially approved Shenzhen to establish a "national semiconductor lighting engineering industrialization base" in Guangming New Area, which also provided a new gathering space for Shenzhen's LED industry.
Although the LED industry in Shenzhen is developing rapidly, the short board is also gradually prominent. The plan points out that the proportion of middle and upper reaches enterprises such as LED chips in the whole industry is only 1% Other data show that LED epitaxial chips and chips account for about 70% of the industrial profit, that is to say, many led enterprises in Shenzhen still earn little profit by low cost.
Xie Suyun, marketing director of Shenzhen high engineering led research center, said, "to put it bluntly, Shenzhen is still in the middle and low-end application of the industrial chain. Although there are nearly 1000 LED related enterprises, many are only some very small manufacturers, lacking core technology and competitiveness."
In fact, Shenzhen is also actively promoting the development of the LED upstream industry. There have been century crystal source, Fangda and other chip enterprises, but the products at this stage have not been mass produced or recognized in terms of quality. Peng Xinyu, President of Shenzhen LED lamp manufacturer zhongyihai technology, admitted, "most of the chips we currently use are imported. Although domestic ones are cheap, there are still great differences in quality."
Enterprises have no patents and industries have no standards
From the perspective of the worldwide LED industry pattern, American and Japanese enterprises have monopoly advantages in technology and equipment, while European enterprises have prominent advantages in the field of application technology. Moreover, these foreign enterprises have mastered a large number of major upstream and downstream technology patents. Once they launch a "patent offensive" and build a "patent encirclement circle", domestic led enterprises will face severe challenges.
Xie Suyun pointed out, "there are more or less infringement problems in the products of many domestic manufacturers. Although many foreign giants have not yet collected them, these problems will be very prominent as long as the LED market is slowly rolled out."
"Pigs can't be slaughtered until they are fattened." He cited an example to illustrate that now foreign led giants are like Microsoft in those years. When promoting the windows system, they initially encouraged everyone to use it, whether pirated or genuine. After the market became dependent on it, they began to charge. "At the end of last year, some enterprises in Shenzhen were sued for infringement, with a claim amount of up to 200 million yuan."
Peng Xinyu thought, "the biggest dilemma of the LED industry is that there are no standards and norms. Standards are the specific technical requirements for various products. Although the government attaches importance to this industry, there has always been no standard, so everyone is in vicious competition, resulting in bad money expelling good money, which has a great impact on the healthy development of the industry." According to other insiders, less than half of the more than 2000 enterprises in the Pearl River Delta can achieve stable products and produce according to orders.
Xie Suyun pointed out, "in fact, all national ministries and commissions and local governments are formulating relevant standards for LED. Not only the Ministry of industry and information technology has a set, but even Shanghai, Guangdong, Shaanxi, Shenzhen and other places have their own standards. However, in addition to the Ministry of industry and information technology, the standards of local governments may also involve the interests of local enterprises, which will lead enterprises to monopolize the local market by using standards, but become an obstacle to industrial development."
In addition, Xie Suyun believes that "at present, the technology of LED is still in the growth period and continuous development, but the standards formulated by some departments are lagging and inappropriate, while some are set too high and can not be realized at all. These are not enough to standardize the whole industry."
The price is too high. When can led lighting be popularized?
Although LED lamps have energy-saving advantages, there are only a few LED lighting products on the market. According to some insiders, at present, LED lighting products are mainly used in automobile lighting, display technology and municipal engineering. The biggest resistance to the popularization of LED application is undoubtedly the price.
Xie Suyun pointed out, "LED lamps are several times or even dozens of times more expensive than traditional lighting products. Although the cost can be recovered through energy saving, the concept of users has not changed yet."
However, manufacturers should be more optimistic. Peng Xinyu said, "it takes time for any product to enter the market. At present, the market's awareness of LED products is much better than a few years ago. Moreover, the prices of some domestic LED lighting products are similar to those of foreign brands, so the competitive advantage is still great."
Some research reports predict that with the progress of technology, mass production of LED and the decline of price, civil LED lighting products will be fully launched in 2015, and the market share will reach 20%.
